Classification and Application of Cleaning Agents

  1. Household Cleaning Agents

Household cleaning refers to the cleaning and maintenance of buildings or industrial equipment, such as cleaning floors, walls, furniture, carpets, doors, windows, and bathrooms, as well as surface cleaning of stone, wood, metal, and glass. Such cleaning agents generally refer to those for hard surface cleaning.

Common household cleaning agents include deodorants, air fresheners, floor wax, glass cleaners, hand sanitizers, and cleaning soaps. Disinfectants containing o-phenylphenol, o-phenyl-p-chlorophenol, or p-tert-amylphenol in their formulations have a relatively narrow application scope, mainly used in hospitals and guest rooms, and can effectively kill tuberculosis bacteria, staphylococci, and salmonella.

2.Kitchen and Dining Cleaning Agents

Kitchen and dining cleaning involves cleaning glassware, dishes, tableware, cookware, grills, and ovens in public kitchens and restaurants, usually by machine washing or manual cleaning. Among kitchen and dining cleaning agents, the most consumed are detergents for automatic washing machines, along with supporting rinsing aids, bactericides, and drying agents, followed by hand-washing cleaning agents. Compared with ordinary household products, kitchen and dining cleaning agents often have stronger alkalinity and sometimes higher concentrations.

3.Light Industrial Cleaning Agents

The food and beverage industry uses cleaning agents to wash packaging bottles, production equipment, and storage containers for food, beverages, dairy products, and meat, as well as to scrub cattle pens, sheep pens, milking equipment, etc. In the production of dairy products, meat, canned goods, and egg products, acidic or alkaline cleaning agents and disinfectants are often mixed at a ratio of 10:1. The food industry mainly uses strong alkaline cleaning agents, often compounded with chlorine-containing disinfectants.

4.Cleaning Agents Used in the Transportation Industry

In the transportation industry, cleaning agents are mainly used for the internal and external cleaning of means of transportation such as cars, trucks, buses, trains, airplanes, and ships, as well as the cleaning of vehicle components (e.g., brake systems, engines, turbines, etc.). Among them, the cleaning of external surfaces is similar to metal cleaning in the industrial field.

Cleaning agents used in the transportation industry include wax, vehicle exterior surface cleaners, and windshield cleaners. Exterior cleaners for trucks and public utility vehicles can be either alkaline or acidic, but only alkaline products can be used on aluminum alloy surfaces. Train exterior surface cleaners generally contain organic acids, inorganic acids, and surfactants. Aircraft cleaning agents are also an important consumption area. Cleaning aircraft surfaces can not only improve aviation safety but also economic efficiency. Aircraft cleaning agents usually have special standards, are capable of removing heavy dirt, and are mostly independently developed by the aviation industry.

5.Industrial Cleaning Agents

Industrial cleaning is required for metal surfaces, plastic surfaces, tanks, filters, oilfield equipment, grease layers, dust, paint removal, wax removal, etc. Metal surfaces must be clean before painting and coating to achieve better adhesion. Metal cleaning often requires removing lubricating grease and cutting fluid from the surface, so solvent-based cleaning agents are mostly used. Metal cleaning objects are broadly divided into two categories: rust removal and degreasing. Rust removal is mostly carried out under acidic conditions, which can remove oxide layers formed on metal surfaces such as steel and iron, as well as insoluble metal deposits and other corrosion products precipitated on boiler walls and steam pipes. Degreasing is performed under alkaline conditions, mainly removing oily dirt.

6.Others

Cleaning agents are also used in other fields such as washing, including the cleaning of textiles in laundries, hotels, research centers, restaurants, and hospitals, as well as the cleaning of flat panel displays and photovoltaic cells, and the cleaning of swimming pools, clean rooms, workshops, storage rooms, etc.
